I attended a work-related function, even though I don't work there. It was a goodbye happy hour for Lola (leaving pursue other avenues - way to go! sock it to 'em!) and even though she'd have understood if I declined, she wanted to include me. The social lion inside me wanted to feel that workplace camaraderie again. The Ms Bitter inside me feared that a drink-in-the face moment just may have to occur (by accident, of course).
I'm happy to report that I had a good time! That VP was not there, and I kept my eye out for Wandering Directors, but none showed up. Mostly, I felt warmth and, surprisingly, empowerment. Whew!

It must have been good to get in on any gossip - another plus for sticking your brave neck out!
It was! Such kind smiles from good, understanding people (one looked a damn bit uncomfortable, but he always was a company suckup!)
Moxie -
As I have read your blog entries it has educated me! thanks for being honest about your feelings and experiences. It has helped me to understand my partner as he goes through the grief of losing your job.
Keep going! You are going places!
Thanks! And, you are welcome! I wish your partner great confidence and success.
