I Did It! (Vodka Helped)

I attended a work-related function, even though I don't work there. It was a goodbye happy hour for Lola (leaving pursue other avenues - way to go! sock it to 'em!) and even though she'd have understood if I declined, she wanted to include me. The social lion inside me wanted to feel that workplace camaraderie again. The Ms Bitter inside me feared that a drink-in-the face moment just may have to occur (by accident, of course).
I'm happy to report that I had a good time! That VP was not there, and I kept my eye out for Wandering Directors, but none showed up. Mostly, I felt warmth and, surprisingly, empowerment. Whew!

Kick Me

So, at my former workplace, That VP had included me in on a plan for growth once there was some top-executive re-structuring. We were all waiting for the top CEO, a useless, dense - yet somehow complex -  windbag I'll call Race Car Willie.
Rumor mills report of major change: Race Car Willie has burned his pistons, anew CEO was in town, three VPs were exited out of the building and That VP's job just doubled.
The dream plan the move we were pining away for, sans me.  I know this is over-reacting, but I equate it to after a divorce, you've both moved on, but then you learn that your ex is getting married and moving on with another family. ouch! Rip my heart out again, would you?!? I still hate you, and I'd N-E-V-E-R work there again (like you'd even ask, duh)  but, still.

Exit Interview By Mail

Really? I was in management for years and at no time did we get feedback from former employees about what it was like to work there. So the HR department gathers this stuff by mail, quarterly?  What a farce - and how fitting, with how you handle other things. Do you really thin that I am going to answer, "What would you do to improve the leadership at Do-Good-Company-Does-Not-Good, if anything?" Because 1) they'd know it was me,  2) they don't deserve to know how they can improve and C) They won't get it anyway. But don't pretend you care to know. And get out of my mailbox!  I still have the envelope, and perhaps, after some vodka...

Hey Wound, Here's some Salt!

So, two weeks after she fired me, she quit! (Even though I worked my ass off for That VP, I reported to a lesser gawd, one of the Wandering Directors, after I lost a promotion to her a year ago) She had the job offer all lined up, and I was the last thing she did for the company. Well, then, thanks again. Nice knowing you.
